The Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) defines instructional technology as “the theory and practice of design, development, utilization, management, and evaluation of processes and resources for learning.” With distance education becoming so popular, many who work in instructional technology are now involved in producing online classes and other e-learning tools. Since this is a knowledge-intensive career field, most professionals who enter it attain a Master’s in Instructional Technology.
