Earn Your Legal Studies Degree Online

If you’re thinking about a legal career, first you must earn a bachelor’s degree in a field that will benefit you as an attorney. Pre–law programs abound, but other popular choices include a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in English or a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Political Science. After graduation you will continue to law school where you must earn your Juris Doctor (JD) degree and pass the state bar exam. Only after you have completed all of this will you be able to practice law. Some lawyers also go on to earn specialized certificates or master’s degrees, such as a Master of Science in Law – Health Law in order to better focus their careers on a particular aspect of the legal profession.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that employment in the legal field will grow by 10% through 2020 – about as fast as the average for all occupations. Lawyers who have further specialized their skills in areas like elder law, environmental law and health law should have the best job prospects.
