Online Medical Assistant Degrees and Medical Assistant Certificates

A Certificate in Medical Assisting or an Associate of Science (AS) in Medical Assisting are the standard degrees for this field. Typical coursework involves basic anatomy and physiology, medical terminology and ethics, and office operations and patient relations. Medical assistants also usually learn first aid and CPR in case of an emergency.

The demand for all healthcare professionals is growing by leaps and bounds, and nowhere is this more evident than in the field of medical assisting. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that employment of medical assistants will expand by an amazing 35% through 2016, a pace much faster than the average for all occupations.
