Top EMT Training Programs and EMT Schools

On-campus and online EMT training programs prepare you for work caring for and transporting the sick or injured to a medical facility. This can involve nearly any condition that requires medical attention, such as automobile accidents, childbirth, gunshot wounds, heart attacks and many others. EMS Training is provided in three successive levels: EMT-Basic, EMT-Intermediate and Paramedic. EMT-Basic and EMT-Intermediate are certificate-level credentials. Paramedic training usually results in an associate’s degree.

Your Career as an EMT or Paramedic

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that the employment of EMTs and paramedics will grow by about 9% through 2018, which is about as fast as the average for all occupations. The median annual salary for professionals in this field was $30,360 in 2010. Job prospects should be best in densely populated metropolitan areas, and EMT school graduates with higher levels of education can generally attain better positions and command higher salaries.
