Top Online IT Project Management Certification Programs

Technical project managers supervise staff and allocate resources to ensure the correct and timely completion of work in the IT industry. They typically take charge of a diverse group of employees for the duration of a particular IT project as opposed to permanently supervising a department. Afterwards they move on to another project that involves a different staff and different tasks, at least in part.

Earn a Certificate in Technical Project Management Online

As in other industries, the most popular and well–respected IT project management certificate for IT personnel is the Project Management Professional (PMP). It is an advanced IT certification offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI) for experienced IT project managers; the qualifications and testing to earn your PMP designation are quite difficult. There are other project management certificates that are unique to the IT industry, most of them graduate–level programs that will require you to hold a bachelor’s degree before enrolling.

The latest U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data projects that information technology firms will need a significant amount of tech project managers in the coming years, with 13% growth expected through 2018. Holding a graduate–level tech project management certificate can help put top positions in the field within your reach.
