Earn a Certificate in Computer Programming Online

A small minority of computer programmers enter this field with no formal education, relying on skills they developed on their own. However, most employers will expect you to have at least a certificate in computer programming; such certificates can usually be earned in one year and provide you with a good foundation in the field. In addition, most undergraduate computer programming certificate programs provide you with credits that can be applied to a computer programming bachelor’s degree should you eventually decide to earn one.

Computer programmers face stiff competition from overseas labor, and also from software engineers (who typically have more broad–based skill sets) here in the United States. As such, programmers stand to benefit greatly from additional certifications that give them an educational edge.
