Online Degrees and Certificates in Project Management – Programs in Business Project Management

Project managers supervise staff and allocate resources to ensure the correct and timely completion of work. Unlike departmental managers who oversee the same employees working on essentially the same tasks every day, project managers typically take charge of a diverse group for the duration of a particular project. Afterwards they move on to another project that will probably involve a different staff and different tasks, at least in part.

Types of Online Project Management Degrees and Certificates

A Bachelor’s of Business Administration (BBA) Project Management degree is the basic degree for project managers, but if you want to advance to top positions a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) with a similar focus is often required.

The employment outlook for project managers depends on which field they work in. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that computer and information technology firms will need lots of project managers, with 16% growth expected through 2016. Construction and engineering should see a similar increase, while advertising and marketing will be somewhat slower at 12%.
