Types of Business Communications Degrees and Certificates

A certificate, Associate of Arts (AA) Degree or Associate of Science (AS) degree in Communications can teach you the basic skills you will need to find an entry-level position, but like most other business fields you'll probably need a bachelor’s degree or better to advance. Coursework for a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications and graduate communications degrees involves many liberal arts classes, and usually additional focus in a field with business applications such as a foreign language (for cross-cultural experts), information systems (for technical writers) or journalism (for media relations specialists).

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that demand for business communications professionals will grow by 18% through 2016 – faster than the average for all occupations. Applicants with advanced degrees, internships, practical work experience and/or a second language will have an advantage when seeking employment.
