Certified Accountants are in Demand

Becoming a CPA requires that you earn a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and pass the four-part American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) CPA exam. Your on campus or online accounting degree prepares you for this exam with classes in auditing, financial accounting, taxation and much more.

Increasing globalization and recent financial scandals have grown the demand for honest accountants with a comprehensive understanding of their field. In particular, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX) has made accounting more important by requiring public companies to institute strict internal financial controls and make their bookkeeping more transparent. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that accounting jobs will grow by 18% through 2016, a faster than average pace compared to the rate for all occupations.
