Performer Will.i.am recently announced he plans to take computer programming courses.
Despite a successful music career both with the Black Eyed Peas and as a solo performer, William James Adams Jr., more commonly known as Will.i.am, said he plans to go back to school to complete his childhood dream of studying information technology (IT).

By next year, the superstar wants to enroll in a college computer science course on code writing, the Daily Mirror reports. Will.i.am stated that as the technology sector is rapidly growing, he hopes studying IT will help him remain a famous face in the entertainment industry for the next 20 years.

"When I am 57 I still want to be relevant in popular culture and the way to be relevant within popular culture in the future is writing code," he told the Mirror.

Students who want to follow in Will.i.am's technological footsteps can begin by earning an associate's or bachelor's degree in computer science or a related topic. Then they can use their code writing skills to launch a career as a computer programmer.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the demand for these professionals is high. Between 2010 and 2020, the number of jobs for computer programmers is expected to rise by 12%, making it a fast-growing career. Additionally, in this position, individuals can make an average salary of $71,380 per year.
