The growing elderly population in the U.S. has led to a great demand for professionals with healthcare degrees and certificates. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the employment of registered nurses (RNs) will increase by 22% through 2018, resulting in 581,500 new jobs nationwide.

In order to meet the need for nurses and other healthcare professionals across the country, many schools have launched new bachelors of nursing (RN and BSN) and masters programs in this field. Recently, Stevens-Henager College announced it will now offer a graduate-level course of study in nursing education and an bachelors program in health administration.

The curriculum for the new masters degree was designed to benefit current RNs, preparing them for educator roles in their field. The online program will include coursework in health services organization and management, advanced nursing theory, leadership theory, and outcomes assessment and quality management.

Students who enroll in the new bachelors program, which is also completely web-based, will become qualified for healthcare-related managerial positions. Future degree holders will learn about ethical aspects of healthcare administration, healthcare economic trends, as well as issues in public health.

Healthcare students who obtain these degrees can be qualified for high-paying jobs. Last year, bachelor degree holders earned $1,025 per week, while those with a masters degree made $1,257 per week, the BLS reports.
