Online Graduate Certificate in Negotiation and Dispute Resolution Expands Career OptionsIndividuals who earn degrees or certification in negotiation and dispute resolution can qualify for positions as arbitrators, mediators and conciliators. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that these professionals typically resolve conflicts outside of the court system.
Those who wish to earn credentials in this field may do so at Creighton University. According to a press release, the school recently announced the launch of a business-oriented online graduate certificate in negotiation and dispute resolution. The curriculum for the program is based on the approach to conflict resolution that was developed by Creighton's Werner Institute.
Coursework for the certificate track features foundational principles and advanced theories of conflict resolution strategies as well as practical applications. The 14-credit hour program, which also requires a one-week residency, is taught by the same professors who instruct the campus-based counterpart.
Enrollees can expect to simulate conflict and negotiation training through simulated role-playing and case studies. Graduates of this program can qualify for positions in human resource management and labor relations, business, government, the military, healthcare, relief and peacemaking organizations, insurance as well as criminal justice.
