University Expands Online Healthcare-Related Degree Programs
The healthcare industry continues to grow, and the demand for trained workers in this field is increasing. As a result, a number of campus-based and online universities are expanding their offerings in this area.

For example, Peirce College recently announced that it will provide more healthcare-related options, TMCnet.com reports. The school is going to offer an online associate's degree in health information technology.

Also, the college is introducing a bachelor's degree in healthcare administration this fall. This program is designed to prepare students for management roles with a better understanding of healthcare-related concepts and skills.

According to James J. Mergiotti, president and chief executive officer at Peirce College, the school is building a complete portfolio of degree programs and courses to meet the needs of those who want to enter or advance in the healthcare field, the news source reports.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that 10 of the 20 fastest-growing occupations are healthcare related. Professionals who worked in this industry earned an average of $20.38 per hour during the 2008 fiscal year.
