Today's young adults are optimistic about the value of college.
Despite reports of a struggling job market and rising tuition rates, young adults are very optimistic when it comes to the value of a college degree. According to the Clark University Poll of Emerging Adults, about 80% of 18- to 29-year-olds believe a college education is one of the most important keys to success in life.

About 16% of those surveyed said college is the most important factor in growing up and becoming an adult. Given the skills they will learn in school, as well as a variety of other factors, almost 90% of individuals said they are confident they will eventually get everything they want out of life.

"Today's emerging adults are optimistic," said Jeffrey Jensen Arnett, a Clark University psychology professor who directed the study. "They know they're entering an economy that rewards the ability to use information to solve problems, and that's something a college education provides. Emerging adults also know that employers select candidates who have a college degree over those who don't. Most emerging adults are willing to invest time, effort and money into pursuing a degree."
