Students can create online portfolios with Seelio. It is not uncommon for college students to begin their job search long before they earn their bachelor’s degree. Some individuals start looking for job leads on Facebook or Twitter, while others set up a LinkedIn account.
Seelio is one social networking website that is not as well known as Facebook or LinkedIn. However, the makers of this platform are hoping it will prove to be an effective tool during college students’ job search. Rather than forcing employers to get to know potential employees through their resumes alone, the multimedia platform allows users to put together an engaging online portfolio.
According to Seelio’s website, students can go beyond bullet points and show prospective employers their talents and experience through videos, pictures and presentations. Users must have a college email address in order to join the online community. However, once they do, employers such as Teach for America, Airtime, Compuware and Under Armour can review the content they have uploaded, CBS MoneyWatch reports.
"We’re building a portfolio platform for the everyday college student," Moses Lee, one of Seelio’s founders, told TechCrunch. "Anyone can use it because, more than ever before, every type of student is creating digital material that they can use to enhance their job prospects."
