Schools offer creative writing programs in Spanish. The Pew Hispanic Center projects that by 2050, the number of Hispanic individuals in the U.S. will triple and make up 29% of the country's population. As the number of native-Spanish speakers rises, so too will the need for bachelor's and master's degree programs that meet these individuals' academic needs.
Some schools that are located in areas with high percentages of Hispanic residents have begun to introduce programs that cater to Spanish-speaking students. In Iowa, where the Hispanic population has grown by 52% in the last decade, the University of Iowa will launch a Master of Fine Arts in Spanish Creative Writing program, according to Fox News Latino.
The university recently received authorization from the Iowa Board of Regents to create the new program, Fox News stated. Students who enroll in this two-year track will take classes in topics such as literary theory, poetry and writing for the stage and screen.
Another institution that offers a degree of this nature is New York University. According to the school's website, the Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing in Spanish is offered in New York City, which is home to a diverse Hispanic and Latin American community.
