Online University Hosts 20th Commencement Ceremony
The 2010 Sloan Survey of Online Learning reveals that the 21% growth rate for online enrollments far exceeds the 2% growth in the overall higher education student population. In celebration of its online graduates, Capella University recently announced in a press release that it is hosting its 20th commencement ceremony.

At this year's graduation, more than 650 Capella students are expected to earn their diplomas. The school currently enrolls nearly 39,000 online learners.

The ceremony, which takes place in New Orleans, will feature Bertice Berry as the keynote speaker. Berry, who is an award-winning lecturer, educator, sociologist and author, is a member of the university's board of directors.

"A Capella graduation ceremony is an incredibly powerful and emotional event. Our graduates and their families should be very proud of their significant accomplishments. Each of them exemplifies drive, determination and dedication to academic excellence," said Deb Bushway, interim president of the school.

The ceremony will be broadcast live online for families and graduates who are unable to attend. The schools holds two graduations each year, one in Minneapolis and another in a major U.S. city.
