Nickelodeon Star to Pursue First College Degree

Miranda Cosgrove plans to earn a bachelor's degree at USC.When young actress Miranda Cosgrove finished filming the final season of her Nickelodeon hit "iCarley," she knew exactly what the next step in her career would be. Following in her father's footsteps, Cosgrove decided to attend the University of Southern California (USC), where she will begin as a freshman this fall, People reports.
The 19-year-old plans to earn a bachelor's degree in either writing or theater and told People she is very excited to begin the college experience.
"I'm looking forward to being back in a school environment after doing home schooling for so long," Cosgrove said. "I'm just excited to meet people and learn."
Celebuzz reports that Cosgrove was accepted to both USC and New York University last December, but chose to defer her acceptance for a year. Ultimately, she chose USC because she wants to continue acting while working toward a bachelor's degree, and thought it would be easier for her to pursue this path in Los Angeles. Additionally, as her family lives in California, she wanted to ensure she was still close to them while in school.
