More MBA Degree Seekers Study Supply Chain Management

According to a 2011 study by the Graduate Management Admission Council, most master of business administration (MBA) degree seekers hope to work in long-established specialties after graduation. These include careers in finance, consulting, technology, government and nonprofits.

Still, many MBA students are now seeking jobs in supply chain management, which has quickly become a popular concentration for degree seekers, BusinessWeek reports. This subject involves the study of raw materials and parts from purchase to delivery, and can lead to many job opportunities and high salaries.

to the Institute for Supply Chain Management, the average annual salary for professionals in this industry is about $103,664. This figure marks a $5,464 increase from last year. Additionally, at institutions that offer supply chain management programs, such as Arizona State University's Carey School of Business, many recent graduates have found jobs. Officials from Carey told BusinessWeek that they saw a 100% placement rate for supply chain MBA students who graduated this past spring, while other schools saw similar results.
