In order to stay up-to-date on best practices in their field, professionals who work in the childcare industry are often required to enroll in early childhood development courses and related programs. In an effort to meet the needs of these individuals, many organizations are launching online continuing education programs.

For example, ChildCare Education Institute (CCEI) - a provider of distance training - occasionally offers access to its online Professional Development Library at no cost. According to a press release, CCEI launches this initiative in order for care providers to validate their credentials.

"Ongoing professional development is a large part of maintaining an educated child care workforce and online training is one way to meet this goal," said Maria C. Taylor, president and CEO of CCEI. "We encourage all those involved with the care of children to try a course."

Most recently, the organization offered free access to its library - which includes more than 100 International Association for Continuing Education and Training approved courses - on Provider Appreciation Day.

"Access to the professional development library for Provider Appreciation Day is our way of giving thanks to those who provide such a positive impact on the care and development of our children," Taylor added.
