College Students Embrace the e-Book Trend

Today, many college students prefer to take advantage of electronic devices when it comes to their education, regardless of what type of degree they are earning. For example, the results of a 2011 survey by the Pearson Foundation indicate that about 70% of students would like to purchase an Apple iPad, or a similar tablet device, in the future, according to a press release. A majority of students who currently own these tools said they allow them to study more efficiently and become more engaged in class.
Additionally, many students, with the support of colleges and universities, have started using e-books instead of heavy textbooks. A new study by Kelton Research shows that a vast majority of degree seekers prefer these light-weight options, Reuters reports.

The report indicated that the average degree seeker carries about 20 pounds of texts every day, which far exceeds the weight of tablet devices.
