When the Occupy Wall Street (OWS) movement began last summer, it elicited a great deal of controversy, but also sparked political discussions across the nation. Now, Chicago's Roosevelt University will use OWS as inspiration for a new class titled Occupy Everywhere, The Associated Press reports.

The political science course, which will be taught by Jeff Edwards, will use OWS as a means to study social movements. As part of the class, students will attend Occupy Chicago's general assembly meetings, which are held near the school's downtown campus. Additionally, degree seekers will read the movement's monthly newspaper.

is not the only school to consider using OWS as a way to teach bachelor's degree seekers about a variety of national issues. Last month, a Columbia University professor announced the launch of an anthropology class titled Occupy the Field: Global Finance, Inequality, Social Movement, Inside Higher Ed reports. However, a spokesman from the school said this announcement was premature, as the class did not receive approval from the university. However, he said a course of that type may well be offered at the institution in the future.
