Overall employment of real estate brokers and sales agents is expected to grow by 14% through 2018, which is faster than the average rate for all other occupations, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. A license is required to practice in every state and the District of Columbia.

In an effort to help more adults earn credentials in this field, Ashford University recently announced in a press release that it will launch an online bachelor's of arts (BA) degree in real estate studies.
