Actor Alec Baldwin recently donated $1 million to his alma mater, New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. The 30 Rock star earned a bachelor's degree in fine arts from the institution in 1994, MSN reports.

A portion of the money will be put toward the Alec Baldwin Drama Scholarship Fund, which gives financial support to students studying in the school's Department of Drama who display impeccable talent, unwavering work ethic and strong leadership skills.

The rest of Baldwin's donation will go toward the Talent Identification Process. Through this initiative, the Tisch School strives to find the most academically and artistically gifted students and cultivate their talents, regardless of their financial situations.

"At a time when funds for higher education appear to be more difficult than ever to access, it's my great pleasure to do what I can to bring the best possible candidates into the Tisch program, a program which I believe is the best in the country," Baldwin said in a statement.

After making the sizeable donation, Baldwin will not stray far from his alma mater, as he is expected to teach a drama course at the Tisch School next year, WENN reports.
