With the massive popularity of online services like Facebook and Google, most students know websites can make thousands - or millions - of dollars from advertising. This is the idea behind World Education University, an online school set to open this fall, The Chronicle of Higher Education reports.

The degree-granting institution will provide free content to online students by making money on advertising. These advertisers will ask students to answer questions about their products and will then feature ads on the school's website that cater to individuals' interests. This system gives advertisers an opportunity to build brand loyalty among students.

Scott Hines, the university's chief executive, told the Chronicle that before they enroll, students will be given a clear explanation of what role advertisements will play in their education.

According to the university's website, it is currently awaiting licensure and accreditation, but once approved, it plans to offer associate's, bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees. Upon the launch of World Education University, students will most likely be able to take courses on subjects like art history, biology, creative writing, criminal justice, economics, computer science and paralegal studies.
