Man overcomes incredible obstacles to earn an MBA degree.
When Manoj Rana moved to the U.S. from India, he was looking forward to a smooth path to a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, CNN reports. However, in July 2005, Rana's apartment building caught on fire, and his life was changed forever.

Rana spent four months in a coma, with burns covering 95% of his body. Even when he finally awoke, he spent seven months in a Chicago burn unit, then transferred to a rehabilitation center in Indianapolis for two and a half years of treatment.

Despite the pain of his recovery, Rana was still determined to earn a master's degree, so he studied in his spare time. Then, he received a pass to leave the nursing home for six hours, using this time to take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).

After scoring a 700 on the exam, Rana was accepted to the Indiana University Kelley School of Business Evening MBA program. Recently, after 54 surgeries and three and a half years, Rana earned his MBA degree. He is now searching for a job in finance.

Despite his incredible journey to a master's degree, Rana remains humble regarding his accomplishments.

"I don't feel I've done anything special," he told Fox 59. "I feel that all I've done is survive."
