Master of Arts in Counseling - Clinical Mental Health

Wake Forest University's Master of Arts in Counseling – Clinical Mental Health online program is dedicated to training highly skilled counselors, who are committed to serving the needs of their communities. Whether they are working in mental health, substance abuse and addictions, career counseling or other counseling specialties, students excel as community leaders, advocates and practitioners who model compassionate service to humanity and promote prevention, early intervention and wellness.

Clinical Mental Health Counselor Licensing: The Wake Forest counseling program prepares students for careers as mental health counselors. As a CACREP-accredited program, the program of study through the Department of Counseling meets the licensure requirements for most states. However, certain states may have other requirements, for example four states do not accept online degree programs for licensure. Therefore, it is the student’s responsibility to check with their state licensing boards to determine what requirements are necessary and to plan for meeting those requirements, if any.

Master of Arts in Counseling - School Counseling

Wake Forest University's Master of Arts in Counseling – School Counseling online program is dedicated to training highly skilled counselors, who are committed to serving the needs of children and their families. Working in K-12 schools, students excel as community leaders, advocates and practitioners who model compassionate service and promote prevention, early intervention and wellness of children around the world.

School Counseling Certification/License: The Wake Forest counseling program prepares students for careers as school counselors. As a NCATE-accredited program, the program of study through the Department of Counseling meets the licensure requirements for most states. However, in some states, school counselors are required to also have a teaching credential and/or teaching experience. Students are responsible for verifying licensure requirements for their individual state.
