UNC School of Government

The School of Government at UNC-Chapel Hill, the home of the MPA program, is the largest university-based local government training, advisory, and research organization in the United States. More than 100 faculty and staff members at the School work with public officials at all levels, as well as employees of nonprofit organizations, to address concerns of the public good. In 2012, US News & World Report ranked the UNC MPA program sixth nationally in the specialty area of city management and 23rd overall.

MPA@UNC provides maximum flexibility to fit a student's busy life

  • MPA@UNC students have the flexibility to earn their degree whether working full-time, traveling or being stationed anywhere in the world, without the need to relocate.
  • MPA@UNC students are able to take as few as 18 months or up to five years to complete their degree. Most students will complete the program in 20 months.
  • Students no longer need to choose between work obligations and the opportunity to earn an MPA from a top-ranked program.
