Founded as a teacher's college in 1923, Stephen F. Austin State University is one of four “independent” public universities in Texas that provides education designed to enhance a close-knit educational community where mutual respect and teamwork are celebrated. Located in Nacogdoches, the school is named for one of Texas' founding fathers, with the main campus situated on the site of the homestead of Thomas Jefferson Rusk, another founding father.

Online Degrees:

Master of Education in Early Childhood

The Master of Education in Early Childhood online degree program is designed to develop expert early education skills to help build learning communities that foster continuous improvement for students from all backgrounds. Graduates become experts in early childhood education and child development, many of whom move into careers as researchers, school district specialists, master classroom teachers, consultants, and professional development providers. The online master’s program at Stephen F. Austin provides relevant, research-based content designed to address the needs of tomorrow’s elementary educators.

SFA provides students financial assistance through federal programs. Our students are offered Pell Grants, TEACH Grants, and Direct Loans. Undergraduate students may apply for and receive aid through all of the federal programs, whereas graduate students may only qualify for TEACH Grants and Direct Loans. Both undergraduate and graduate students may apply for and receive scholarships to help pay for costs. However, students are not eligible to apply for Emergency Short-Term Loans or Book Loans.
